James Baker was an 18-year-old in the PPCLI stationed just south of London
in World War II. At the time these letters were compiled, the author was
an 80-year-old writer and living in Victoria after his very interesting
life as a General Surgeon in the Canadian Armed Forces. After retiring
from the RCAF in 1972, the author worked as a Surgeon in various areas
including Europe and Saudi Arabia. Dr. Baker passed on to be with his
Lord on October 1, 2002 in Victoria - 6 weeks after the book was first
published. His dream of having his letters published became a reality
in his lifetime.
The letters that make up this book were assembled and put in book form
by his daughter, Suzanne.
